A Quick Look Under the Sheet Metal

Melrose, OR–April 21, 2019. I have some old junky sheet metal; corrugated roofing to be exact. This is some of the greatest stuff to attract reptiles as well as voles (Microtus spp.) that like to nest under this material. Today I just looked under a couple sheets. There was one large Southern Alligator Lizard and a couple different nests of voles w/young. The alligator lizard really desired to get ahold my fingers, or perhaps even my leg. It had a regrown tail. One vole nest had older furred young, but still w/o open eyes. The other nest had less-developed young. I photographed one of the adults attempting to carry one of these very young ones away to safety. I put the metal back down.
