Landowner

I feel honored to work with people who care for their land and wildlife. And I know I am uniquely qualified to help you accomplish your goals. Let’s work together to learn about your natural resources and accomplish the goals you have for your property.

Site visit

If you would like to just “pick my brain” on what important habitats you have, and get ideas on what you can do to promote biodiversity on your property, I would love to come visit with you. Cost is $50/hr plus $1/mile that it takes for me to get to you.

Prepare a list of habitats and expected species

Without even visiting your property I can prepare a list of habitats and expected and possible species, based on your location and habitat types I can observe from satellite imagery (e.g., Google Earth). A short interview on the phone also helps. I can provide a list of likely and possible birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and dragonflies. This generally costs about $100 per taxonomic group.

Develop a Management Plan

I can develop a management plan that is specific to your desires and for your personal use, or I can prepare a plan that also meets the requirements of a Wildlife Habitat Conservation and Management Plan, which may allow a special tax assessment of your property.” Management plans without data collection usually cost $500-$2000. See other options on this page for on-the-ground work.

Perform Wildlife Surveys

This is the only option that gives you actual data on species observed and documented on your property. I use techniques specific to the information you want to obtain. I may conduct diurnal bird surveys, use cover boards to find reptiles, or put up trail cameras to detect mammals. With your permission I submit all my observations and field notes to iNaturalist.org or eBird.org. That gives you a place to view all the data and photos, and contributes to our greater knowledge of the distribution and life history of species in the Pacific Northwest. Cost may be between $300 and $3000 or more, depending on what data you want.

Restore, Enhance, or Create Wildlife Habiat

Your property is undoubtedly already home to many species of plants and wildlife, probably a mix of invasive and native species. If some habitat types have been lost or degraded, we may be able to restore them. In many cases, even while degraded habitats are recovering, specific microsite features can be added to provide homes, food, and/or water for a variety of wildlife species.

Photo Book

Either as an add-on to doing wildlife surveys (above), or for the sole purpose of having a photo book, I can photographically document the wildlife, habitats, and plants on your property and make it available for your purchase via online options such as SnapFish or Amazon Create. In other words, you only pay me for creating the book, then you purchase as few or as many books as you like. These are fun to send to friends and family  or share when they visit. Cost for my work may be $300 to $2000 or more depending on what you want to create.
